The Master of Professional Accounting Advanced is a two-year course designed for non-accounting graduates who want a career in the accounting profession and want to enhance their learning experience by including another discipline specialisation within their course. The learning experience and knowledge areas in the MPA Advanced are focused on the practice of accounting.
Within the MPA Advanced, you can choose to complete one of two possible specialisations, depending on your career aspirations. The Financial Management specialisation enables you to focus on areas of financial management such as banking and securities while the specialisation in International Business allows you to broaden your knowledge of intercultural aspects of the business environment.

Course Learning Outcomes
Students graduating from the Master of Professional Accounting (Advanced) will be able to:
Integrate technical, theoretical and professional knowledge as it relates to accounting, auditing, finance, economics, information systems and relevant law.
Critically apply technical, theoretical and professional knowledge and skills to propose solutions to routine and emerging professional accounting problems.
Exercise judgement to propose solutions to professional accounting problems in diverse contexts using social, ethical, economic, regulatory and international perspectives.
Communicate professional accounting advice in oral, written and visual forms to relevant stakeholders.
Work appropriately with others in order to achieve outputs relevant to professional accounting.
Reflect on performance and feedback to identify learning opportunities and self-improvement.
Conduct a professionally focused research project.
Demonstrate proficiency in a specialised area of Business.

An Honours Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline at Class II Division 2 or higher or appropriate Master of Philosophy with a strong thesis performance. Special Admission Requirements: All applicants for research degrees must submit a written (preferably typed) proposal as part of their application. This proposal should: commence with a statement detailing any previous research or project experience you have undertaken, including if possible a copy of the abstract of such work; contain, in no more than one additional page, a clearly focused research proposal for the study you would wish to undertake throughout your registration in the course; and conclude with a statement of your motivation for wanting to undertake the research course. English language requirements: IELTS - 6.5 (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking – 6.0); TOEFL – 88 (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking – 18).

Students must have a recognised Bachelors degree, or equivalent, with an average mark of 50 percent or a UOW Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting.
Applicants with other relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial relevant professional of managerial experience will also be considered for entry.
IELTS Academic Overall Score of 6.5, reading 6.0, writing 6.0, listening 6.0, speaking 6.0; TOEFL (Internet-based) score of 88, reading 18, writing 18, listening 18, speaking 18; Cambridge English: CAE and CPE score of 176; PTE Academic overall score of 64 (Minimum communicative skill score of 57).
