This degree
You’ll receive training in the high demand area of quantitative financial analysis, giving you first-hand experience in the way in which this discipline is used in this field.
The Practitioners' Seminars component of the course will provide students with first-hand knowledge from experts working in the field.
What you will study
You’ll learn quantitative financial analysis and a range of analytical, statistical, computational and modelling skills. These are needed for the formulation, implementation and evaluation of models in the financial sector to structure transactions, evaluate financial derivatives, manage risk and construct investment strategies.

Students graduating from the Master of Financial Mathematics will be able to:
Demonstrate advanced and integrated understanding of a complex body of knowledge in mathematics, statistics and finance.
Exhibit expert, specialised cognitive and technical skills in mathematics, statistics and finance to independently analyse, critically reflect on and synthesise complex information, problems and theories.

An Honours Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline at Class II Division 2 or higher or appropriate Master of Philosophy with a strong thesis performance. Special Admission Requirements: All applicants for research degrees must submit a written (preferably typed) proposal as part of their application. This proposal should: commence with a statement detailing any previous research or project experience you have undertaken, including if possible a copy of the abstract of such work; contain, in no more than one additional page, a clearly focused research proposal for the study you would wish to undertake throughout your registration in the course; and conclude with a statement of your motivation for wanting to undertake the research course. English language requirements: IELTS - 6.5 (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking – 6.0); TOEFL – 88 (Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking – 18).
