This one-year degree provides Australian registered nurses with the opportunity to upgrade their qualifications to a Bachelor's degree level. For international students the same opportunity to upgrade their qualifications to a Bachelor's degree level; however, please note that this does not lead to eligibility to apply for registration as a nurse in Australia. Nursing is one of the cornerstones of the health care system and nurses play an important role in health promotion and prevention strategies, and in care of people with episodic, chronic and complex care. Nurses are integral in the treatment of individuals, families, communities and populations. This is a privileged position and carries with it significant responsibility. During this degree you will evaluate and apply concepts drawn from nursing theory and research to professional practice. You will be able to demonstrate an increased awareness of the effects of cultural, social, economic, legal and ethical influences on the development of the nursing profession.
