The Master of Language Studies prepares you for a range of careers with a language component. It is designed to provide an advanced level of understanding of one of the following areas of specialisation: cultural studies, (relative to French, Italian, Indonesian, Modern Greek, or Spanish), applied linguistics, or teaching English as a second language (TESOL). It provides advanced practical language training, and vocational knowledge in languages. What you will study The program will train you to form broad conceptual understandings while gaining depth of knowledge of a particular area of specialisation, through coursework and through a supervised research project. It will also provide advanced practical language training and vocational knowledge in areas relevant to the language professional. Topics undertaken in the program may be chosen according to the following program of study: topics offered in language and cultural studies, including study abroad, applied linguistics, or teaching English as a second language core language research project topics.
