The Master of Education (Gifted Education) is intended for educators whose personal, professional or research interests include a focus on the development and education of gifted students. This specialisation aims to challenge and support educators as they: prepare for professional work and leadership in Gifted Education critically analyse the various concepts of intelligence, giftedness and creativity critically reflect on, discuss and evaluate current theoretical perspectives related to key issues in Gifted Education examine the nature of the relationships and interactions between Gifted Education and General Education examine research principles and methods and apply those principles and methods in the evaluation, design and completion of research into current gifted educational issues. Learning outcomes Graduates from this specialisation will be able to demonstrate knowledge of: the various conceptions and misconceptions of intelligence, giftedness and creativity and their implications for identification and provision the development, characteristics and needs of diverse gifted individuals a range of models relating to effective curriculum, pedagogy and support designed to meet the needs of gifted students seminal and contemporary research literature in the field and its impact on educational policy and practices relating to gifted students Program of study To qualify for the Master of Education (Gifted Education), a student must complete 54 units, including approved credit, with a grade of P or NGP or better.
