专业简介
The course aims to provide the opportunity for registered midwives to deepen their knowledge and skills in midwifery and prepare them for an expanded practice role in a new and innovative program of study. This course will not lead to registration as a midwife.
The postgraduate midwifery program provides you with the opportunity to advance the discipline of midwifery, promote excellence in midwifery practice, and plan, implement and disseminate midwifery research.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Flinders University has a strong commitment to excellence in midwifery education, practice and research, with the expertise and educational background to support this commitment.
This includes developing strong links with the profession in metropolitan, rural and remote areas locally, nationally and internationally.
Our program reflects the philosophies of woman-centred midwifery, midwifery continuity of care and is underpinned by primary health care principles. The philosophy of the Australian College of Midwives has been considered and embraced in developing all midwifery teaching programs.
The midwifery teaching team has a commitment to, and expertise in, research. It collaborates with service providers to establish joint research projects, actively seeks grants to support research projects, and has a well-established publication profile.
As a student of the program it is anticipated that you will become an active scholar and/or researcher, collaboratively or independently, and further add to midwifery knowledge.
