Course Highlights:
This JCU course is designed to meet identified Australian and international public health needs and priorities. To ensure you achieve the best possible learning outcomes, JCU has searched the world for experienced academics who are experts in their fields.
From 2018, you could also select our newest major, One Health. The One Health approach is becoming increasingly important and valued, due to the recognition that emerging diseases are a result of complex interactions, and interdisciplinary responses needed address them.
The course aims to provide an understanding of interactions between animal, human and ecosystem health, and enable team approaches to surveillance, response and communication.
The One Health major is run through a public (human) health program at a masters level, and is shared across public health, veterinary sciences, and ecological sciences as a true One Health program, capitalising upon the unique and highly regarded expertise at JCU in these fields.
When the coursework is completed at a grade point average of 6 or above, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Tropical Health and Medicine, on the recommendation of the Dean of the College of Public Health, Medical and Veterinary Sciences, may recommend the award of a Master of Public Health with Distinction.
