This 4-year full time JCU course combines the study of science, anatomy, physiology, human movement analysis, manual therapy and exercise for rehabilitation. Clinical placements form a key component. The course is grounded in evidence-based practice and emphasizes ethical principles and professional behaviour.
This course has specific admission requirements such as immunization, the requirement to obtain Suitability to Work with Children Card, Federal Police Check and/or other requirements that you must comply with. You must complete all Professional Experience Placement requirements by the prescribed deadlines and maintain currency of all requirements in order to stay admitted in the course.
Course Highlights:
Though your studies will equip you to work as a physiotherapist anywhere in Australia, or internationally, this course has a unique focus on the skills needed for physiotherapy practice in tropical, rural, remote, Indigenous settings. As a JCU student you'll experience:
Individual attention: During your first year you will be mentored by a staff member who will help you create an Individual Learning Plan, set goals and identify strategies so you can achieve success in your course
Extensive practical experience: You will have more than 30 weeks of supervised clinical placements in urban, rural and remote locations to develop your clinical skills, including at the JCU Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Clinic on campus. You will also have the option to complete an international placement.
Unique skills: You will gain valuable experience in rural and remote health settings, and understand the health needs of diverse communities including those of Australian Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders.

Applicants who are applying for Bachelor of Business & Bachelor of Information Technology requires 80%; 85% for Bachelor of Science (non-IT disciplines) and Bachelor of Engineering; 80% for Bachelor of Arts. Entry into health disciplines requires successful completion of one year or more of full-time tertiary study. English Language Requirements: Academic IELTS: 6.0 (no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based): 550 (plus minimum Test of Written English score of 4.5); TOEFL (internet-based): 79 (minimum writing score of 19); Pearson (PTE Academic): 57.

Course pre-requisites: English, Maths B, plus one of Chemistry, Biological Science, Physics, Physical Education or Health Education.
