We’ve designed our brand new Bachelor of Nursing to prepare you for the diversity and complexities of 21st century nursing.
At Swinburne, you will benefit from our strengths in technology and innovation. Your clinical skills will be developed safely using simulation technology and realistic case studies, and you will undertake 800 hours of placement in a variety of clinical settings. Speciality study areas will include high acuity nursing, mental health services, aged and palliative care, rural and Indigenous health care, and family, paediatrics and primary health care.
Small class sizes will provide you with individualised support and assessments will be approached with an authentic, real-world view – all to help you develop into a well-rounded professional.
You’ll graduate as a registered nurse (RN) and be ready to pursue a career in a variety of settings, including tertiary hospitals, aged care, rural, remote or community health care.
Course learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
engage in critical inquiry-orientated healthcare activities as a beginning registered nurse, to provide care to individuals, families and groups from diverse backgrounds across the lifespan
be highly literate in their use and management of information and evidence-based knowledge for greatest practice effect across a range of healthcare settings
demonstrate leadership within inter-professional teams through the use of personal, intellectual and creative autonomy
exhibit personal values and beliefs consistent with their role as responsible members of local, national and international and professional communities in a 21st Century healthcare workforce
recognise and value communication as a tool for negotiation and creating new understandings, interacting with others and furthering their own learning
engage effectively in the therapeutic care of individuals and the advancement of their discipline.

Other English Language Requirements accepted: Cambridge English: Advanced Scores: 58 with no less than Borderline in each skill; TOEFL Paper Based: 550 (minimum TWE 5.0); PTE Academic: 58 with no communicative skill score less than 50; CEF (Common European Framework): B2; English for Academic Purposes (Level 5): Overall 70% (all skills 65% or above).
