The Bachelor of Design offers students a broad and coherent understanding of contemporary design. Complete core units in your first year to learn design skills across a range of disciplines and assist in selecting a major. Get hands-on skills in your chosen major through a professionally focused, multidisciplinary project in your final year of study. Selected major: UX Interaction Design This major invites you to learn how to improve the experiences of everyday technology users. You’ll tackle the thought process behind the world’s latest innovations and consider socio-technical environments, human behaviour and digital systems along the way. Upon completion, you’ll have the skills to design and create better digital experiences for people across the globe. Course structure Successful completion of the Bachelor of Design requires students to complete units of study to the value of 300 credit points. All units of study are valued at 12.5 credit points unless otherwise stated. Course learning outcomes On successful completion of the Bachelor of Design, graduates will be able to: demonstrate knowledge and cognitive skills to review critically, analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge and apply this with initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in professional practice and/or scholarship demonstrate technical and practical skills, and a broad understanding of key concepts in their chosen field of study demonstrate knowledge and cognitive and creative skills to exercise critical thinking and judgment in identifying and solving problems independently and collaboratively, in diverse contexts apply communication skills to present a clear, coherent and independent exposition of knowledge and ideas to different audiences and stakeholders with responsibility and accountability, apply their knowledge, cognitive and technical skills, and principles of sustainability and respectful design, to the development of design solutions exercise organisational and leadership skills, and demonstrate the ability to plan and execute a project and/or piece of research with groups that may include academics, industry professionals and students.
