The Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning is designed to develop or upgrade your investment, financial planning, taxation knowledge and skills for a career in personal financial advisory.
Taught by leading Finance and Taxation academics at UNSW Business School, this program provides you with a distinguished level of training to advance in the career of personal financial and investment advisory. Suitable for working professionals, you can choose from a combination of online and face-to-face courses to suit your work/life balance.
The program offers you a challenging learning environment to achieve an integrated learning in financial planning, investment and taxation. It also provides you with the learning required for professional accreditation. Graduates develop knowledge and skills in financial markets, financial products, investment (theory, evidence, and quantitative techniques), risk management, financial planning, taxation law and strategies, compliance, ethical and professional conduct.
Program Structure
Students must complete 48 UOC as a standalone program.
Learning Outcomes
Professional skills: Grad Dip in Financial Planning graduates will be able to demonstrate effective time and task management to achieve self-direction, and personal and professional goals.
Communication: Grad Dip in Financial Planning graduates will be able to communicate effectively and confidently in oral and written forms, in a range of contexts.
Critical thinking and problem solving: Grad Dip in Financial Planning graduates will be able to collect, analyse and evaluate information and ideas and define and solve problems.
Social, ethical and global perspectives: Grad Dip in Financial Planning graduates will be able to demonstrate understanding of social and global perspectives on a range of cultural, ethical, environmental and economic spheres of engagement.
Disciplinary knowledge: Grad Dip in Financial Planning graduates will be able to apply their knowledge of financial markets, financial products, taxation, financial planning, investment valuation and strategies in their practice.

English Language Requirements: IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT): 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking); TOEFL - Paper-based Test (PBT) 577 overall (min. 5.0 in TWE); Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic - 64 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) - 180 overall (min.180 in each subtest; Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - 176 overall (min.169 in each subtest).

Recognised bachelor degree (or equivalent qualification), as determined by the UNSW Business School, plus a minimum of two years full time relevant work experience.
