The Graduate Certificate in Public Health provides preparation for education, research, and service in aspects of public health.
Program Structure
Students must complete 24 UOC as a standalone program.
1. Compulsory courses - 6 UOC
2. Prescribed elective courses - 18 UOC
Learning Outcomes
Apply disciplinary knowledge and skills to contribute to protecting the health of populations and preventing communicable and non-communicable diseases using appropriate scientifically based methods and contemporary theories and techniques.
Critically analyse the needs of particular communities and/or populations to promote health and wellbeing by drawing on relevant evidence to inform proposed solutions.
Demonstrate capacity to initiate, plan, implement and/or evaluate public health projects and/or programs in one or more areas of practice, informed by current theoretical debates and techniques.
Demonstrate high level skills in communicating, working in teams and advocacy to enhance public health outcomes.
Demonstrate understanding of current international developments and perspectives and their implications for productively working locally and across communities and national boundaries.
Demonstrate capacity to engage in scholarly inquiry, ethical commitment and critical reflective practice for informing professional practice in public health.

English Language Requirements: IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT): 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking); TOEFL - Paper-based Test (PBT) 577 overall (min. 5.0 in TWE); Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic - 64 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) - 180 overall (min.180 in each subtest; Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) - 176 overall (min.169 in each subtest).

Applicants are required to have either:
An undergraduate degree in a field relevant to public health or health management (see list below)* and two years full-time professional or volunteer experience. This may also include equivalent professional experience acquired as part of a degree of 4 or more years duration (e.g. MBBS, MD)
OR
An honours or postgraduate degree in a field relevant to public health or health management (see list below)*
*Examples include, but are not restricted to, medicine, nursing, allied health, health sciences, biomedical sciences, dentistry, social work, sociology, behavioural and social sciences, psychology, marketing, human services, emergency services, environmental health, veterinary science, health administration, business, management, engineering, law, science, mathematics and statistics, economics, policy studies and development studies.

UNSW Institute of Languages University English Entry Course (UEEC): Successful completion with a minimum overall grade of C+ and a minimum grade of C in the writing component.

Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE): 180 overall (min.180 in each subtest)
