When you study theatre media with CSU you will gain the opportunity to create, produce, design, perform and manage original creative projects and events from start to finish, working across live and digital platforms. From the day you begin your theatre media degree with CSU, you will be working in our on-campus theatre, drama studios, multi-function TV studio, set and prop building workshops, prop and costume rooms and multiple outdoor performance spaces, giving you the skills you need to work in a range of exciting established and emerging performance settings. Course highlights Dedicated to the creation of original works across the whole spectrum of the entertainment, communication and information industries, CSU's innovative theatre media degree will transform you into a multi-skilled practitioner. After graduation you will be able to work across a range of sectors and be highly employable in both large organisations and on independent creative projects. A wide range of subjects CSU's theatre media degree includes studies in devised performance; 21st Century performance; production and event management; circus and physical theatre; classic, modern and Australian theatre; actor training; script writing and documentary making; theatre for young people; site-specific theatre production; and theatre and cultural action. Get hands-on experience Each three to six weeks you will be working on a new live production across genres, forms and styles. In your third year, your theatre media studies will culminate in the creation of an original performance production or event that you will conceive, design and deliver. Your work will be showcased in CSU's annual Sprung Festival of Creativity. Gain practical workplace experience You will complete four-week internships with theatre companies, media production houses, or film, radio, television or event production companies. Work experience can also be undertaken at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre, as well as through production participation in the annual Inland Sea of Sound Music Festival. There are also international work experience opportunities for CSU theatre media students. Experience dynamic facilities CSU learning environments mirror industry best practice. Students have access to a multi-function television studio; digitally connected performance spaces; a fully-equipped, 99-seat theatre; rehearsal studios and production rooms; costume, construction and wardrobe workshops; and a nationally networked FM radio station. Career opportunities CSU's theatre media degree has a proud history of producing graduates who excel in a broad range of arts, communication and entertainment disciplines such as theatre, film, television, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, radio, education and community theatre. Production Be at the heart of the action and make things happen with roles such as a stage manager, production manager, event producer, festival coordinator, workshop facilitator or arts administrator. With the addition of a Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary), you can also become a drama teacher. Creative You will have the skills and knowledge to be able to work as a writer, editor, director, designer, filmmaker or digital content producer. Performance Take the lead and work as a stage or film performer, or as a radio announcer.
