Our Bachelor of Arts (BA) is your licence to explore. The flexibility of this degree allows you to shape your program around your interests and career aspirations. Through your BA you will develop a broad range of highly transferable skills and in-depth knowledge in your chosen areas of study. The BA provides the tools you need to think critically, communicate effectively, and conduct independent research. You will complete in-depth study in two discipline areas, which you can select from 35 areas of study. You may select two majors, completing your Arts degree with a double major. Alternatively, you may select one major and one minor area of study. Choosing your majors and minors A major is the most in-depth area of study you can undertake in the Bachelor of Arts. It usually comprises of ten courses over three years. Students completing a BA must choose at least one major from Arts & Social Sciences - but don't worry, with so much choice you don’t have to choose your major until the end of first year. Electives allow for flexibility in your first year so that you can try out a few different areas of study before selecting a major. People ‘make music’ in various ways: as performers, composers, producers, and curators or in their various combinations. Music making requires not only technical and stylistic mastery but also an engagement with the fundamental issues that make music one of the most complex and universal forms of human behaviour. This includes Music’s status as art, as a psychological and cultural experience, and as an agent of social action and change. These skills include critical and creative problem solving, persuasive communication and presentation skills, an understanding of human behaviour and respect for social, cultural and individual diversity.
