You will develop and polish performance skills through practical studios, industry seminars, theory studies, personal reflection, and hands-on educational opportunities. Acting, contemporary dance and popular music are available at CQUniversity Cairns campus. Acting and contemporary dance are available at CQUniversity Townsville campus. Visual arts are available at CQUniversity Rockhampton campus. To gain entry into this course for acting, dance or music you will be required to audition. This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the competitive and exciting world of the creative arts. MAJORS Acting Harness your passion for acting and achieve a professional qualification by majoring in acting. Available to study on campus in Cairns and Townsville, you will gain valuable theoretical knowledge and be able to describe fundamental dramaturgy as well as contextualise the process and place of contemporary indigenous arts within the international and Australian cultural industries. You will build confidence working across a broad range of theatrical styles adopting a reflective acting practice and have the opportunity to create and lead an artistic product working in collaboration with other artists. Contemporary dance Contemporary dance will provide industry-relevant and practical training to assist you in pursuing a career in dance. You will create, choreograph, market, and produce a contemporary dance performance in an artistic and safe environment. The contemporary dance major is available to study on campus in Cairns and Townsville and will allow you to implement theatre technology and stagecraft as well as collaborate with other artists to lead and create an artistic product. Popular music Forge a career in the music industry by studying the popular music major where you will produce, record, perform and market popular music. You will integrate music and lyrics to create songs in a popular music style and apply the theory and history of popular music to your practice. You will gain practical skills by taking a leadership role in an artistic production while collaborating with other artists. The Popular Music major is available to study at our Cairns campus. Visual arts Expand your talents in the visual arts by undertaking the visual arts major in the Bachelor of Creative Arts. Study on campus in Rockhampton and refine your skills and knowledge in drawing fundamentals and contemporary art practices. PROGRAM STRUCTURE You are required to complete a total of 24 units including eight compulsory core units, eight units from your chosen major in acting, contemporary dance, popular music or visual arts and eight elective units chosen from any undergraduate course at CQUniversity. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Graduates of the Bachelor of Creative Arts can pursue careers within their specific disciplines of acting, dance, music or visual arts or more broadly within the creative and cultural resources sector that includes arts administration, tourism, festivals and events.
