This MA will increase a student's understanding of the literature and concepts of geography education, while advancing their professional skills and developing their knowledge for successful subject leadership. This programme offers students the opportunity to develop a personal response to the challenges of geography education, looking at the contribution geography will make to educating young people in the future. It will also encourage students to seek publication for excellent pieces of coursework and research and will advance professional skills and knowledge of successful geography subject leadership. The department provides an impressive range of cutting-edge MA and CPD courses, variously presented in face-to-face, distance learning or mixed mode formats. In addition we offer a first-class PhD programme and staff are actively involved in an extensive range of innovative, nationally and internationally acclaimed, research and development projects. The department's student population is very diverse: students on initial teacher education programmes, practising teachers and a rich and diverse range of international students. Graduates of this programme are currently working across a broad range of areas. Some are working as teachers, heads of humanities, heads of geography and senior managers in primary and secondary schools, while others have jobs as policy-makers and education consultants. Graduates can also be found working as geography teacher training tutors and PhD students. This degree is also available as a PG Diploma and a PG Certificate with fees set accordingly. Students will take this course in flexible and distance study mode also.
