This flexible and unique MSc is designed for anyone working in a department of engineering as an engineer or in engineering policy, who wants to lead change, lead teams and enhance the performance of engineers in industry, enhance the quality of engineering education in universities and influence engineering education policy. The programme focuses on how to develop innovative strategies to improve engineering education. The degree will provide you with a mix of theoretical and practical ideas and frameworks to creatively re-design and deliver all aspects of engineering education including engineers’ skills and how policies can enhance engineering education. A focus on leadership and the development of professional skills is emphasised throughout, with inputs from industry experts, UCL researchers and policy stakeholders. The degree offers a unique opportunity to be taught by specialists from two world-leading research faculties - the UCL Institute of Education (IOE) and the Faculty of Engineering Sciences. Both have extensive expertise and experience in research, knowledge transfer and consultancy in engineering education nationally and internationally, as well researching in engineering companies, and working with engineering institutes, government departments and NGOs. Students will also have access to the Centre for Engineering Education (CEE), a community of researchers and practitioners which focuses on transitions from school/college into and through engineering degrees, and into and through employment, offering you opportunities to further update your knowledge and skill. This flexibility enables students to design a programme of study which reflects their professional and personal interests, supports their career development, and prepares them to work nationally or internationally more effectively as well as to support others to do so, in the fields of engineering, engineering education/development, engineering policy or as a freelance consultant. The MSc has been designed to help students to upgrade their theoretical and practical capabilities to lead change, lead teams and enhance the performance of engineers in industry, enhance the quality of engineering education in universities and influence engineering education policy.
