This programme examines equality and human rights in a social context, empirically and theoretically, while also providing advanced training in sociology and social science research methodology to fulfill Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) postgraduate research training requirements. In this course you will examine key debates and theories concerning equality and human rights and how they have influenced social policy and practice, develop a critical understanding of sociology and gain skills in quantitative and qualitative research methods. This degree is taught jointly with the MSc in Equality and Human Rights. It has a stronger focus on the subject, with less emphasis on research methods. The programme will provide you with initial expertise in equality and human rights as a foundation for a professional or research career.

Graduates of national quality Chinese universities with a GPA of 3.2 or above or an average score of 80% and above will be considered. Grades in relevant subjects will be accorded greater significance and entry will be entirely at the discretion of the University of Glasgow. We can accept top-up honours degrees with the final year at a UK or other university but we normally require 60% or equivalent (2.1) standard in all courses in the final year of the degree.
