专业简介
The Master of Arts involves advanced study in an Arts subject and is intended for those who want to deepen their knowledge of that subject. The degree also includes a substantial component of independent research.
The recognition of Māori as an official language of Aotearoa has been accompanied by an acknowledgement of tangata whenua issues within the community and society as a whole. The ability to be fluent in both Māori and English has become increasingly important within a number of professional areas. These areas include: Iwi/hapu development, Education, Medicine, Research, Media, Government and Travel and Tourism.
Maori Cultural Studies/Tikanga Maori
Tikanga Māori (Māori Cultural Studies) teaches you the skills required for a community leadership role in the enhancement of Māori development. In today's rapidly evolving world you will establish a basic, yet necessary understanding of the Māori worldview and its relation to other cultures and worlds.
Our range of exciting cultural papers is suitable for people of all ethnicities, and brings about a new dimension to the evolving world of Māori performing and visual arts. The programme hosts an eclectic selection of new and traditional elements including kapa haka, ngā taonga pūoro and creative technologies, and promises a field of study delivered by quality academics who are fluent in Māori, and some in Pacific and European languages.
Tikanga Māori provides the option of introductory courses through to more advanced courses.
