The Master of Information Technology degree is designed for IT professionals looking to update and extend their technical knowledge of advanced computing subjects, or move into a new IT specialisation. Internationally recognised, it can help advance your career in diverse fields such as software engineering, health, telecommunications and more.
The program is also an excellent retraining opportunity for professionals who want to specialise in a different area of IT. You have the flexibility to tailor your studies, with more than 25 IT specialist units as well units from electrical engineering and business to choose from.

Graduates of the Master of Information Technology are IT specialists who possess an excellent combination of knowledge and practical, hands-on expertise to influence and reinforce an organisations technology infrastructure and to support the people who use it. They will often be responsible for selecting and deploying software products appropriate for an organisation. They may also be involved in creating and managing business applications, web sites, systems and the IT environment in all types of industries.

Research activities in the School of Information Technologies focus on algorithmic and applications, enterprise computing, human-centred computing, and IT applications in health care. To apply for a PhD, you need to demonstrate sufficient prior research experience and capability. In most cases, you will have either: a bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours or a master's degree performed at a high academic standard, and which includes a substantial component of research; an equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence and capability. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 565 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.

an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree with a credit average (65 percent) and a major sequence of study in computer engineering, software engineering, or equivalent qualification or
a University of Sydney Graduate Diploma/Graduate Certificate in Information Technology or Graduate Diploma in Computing, with a credit average (65 percent). Units completed in the graduate diploma/graduate certificate can be credited to the master’s degree.
