Apply linguistic skills and know-how in today’s globalised professional and community settings. This new course has a special emphasis on diversity in the language of professional and social engagement.
You will learn core concepts of language and culture, and gain skills in applying them in areas ranging from business to education, teaching English to speakers of other languages, community relations, media, medicine, and law.

Graduate opportunities
Graduates will be equipped to address a range of real-world issues in language and communication, and work in areas as diverse as public relations in business, literacy in multilingual education, community engagement, teaching English to speakers of other languages, legal language, news discourse, and doctor/patient communication in health settings.
Future study options
Progress to Postgraduate Research. The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences supports and pursues the University's goal of excellence in research, encouraging research of national and international standing, and identifying and enhancing fields of basic, strategic and applied research. Many of the Faculty's distinguished academic staff have recognised international standing and include Federation Fellows and Fellows of Learned Academies and Societies.

To apply for a PhD, you need to demonstrate sufficient prior research experience and capability. In most cases, you will have either: a bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours or a master's degree performed at a high academic standard, and which includes a substantial component of research; an equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence and capability. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 565 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.
国际学生入学条件
Admission to candidature for the Graduate Diploma in Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics requires:
a bachelor’s degree or higher award from the University of Sydney, or a qualification deemed by the faculty to be equivalent; or
completion of the requirements of the embedded graduate certificate in this discipline or qualifications deemed by the faculty to be equivalent.
You can progress from the Graduate Certificate to a Graduate Diploma or Masters, or from a Graduate Diploma to Masters in the same subject area, after successful completion of the shorter course.
TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing
IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing
