The University of Sydney School of Public Health programs focus on the prevention of illness and the promotion of health. Learning opportunities are aimed at developing the essential knowledge and required skills of practitioners in the practice of public health, including the effective management of community health problems to improve conditions and outcomes.
Completion of this Graduate Diploma program can be used as credit towards a Masters degree.

To apply for a PhD, you need to demonstrate sufficient prior research experience and capability. In most cases, you will have either: a bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours or a master's degree performed at a high academic standard, and which includes a substantial component of research; an equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence and capability. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 565 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.

A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Public Health will hold a degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification. In exceptional circumstances the dean may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the school, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.
