If you are an IT graduate or a professional looking for a new IT specialty, the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology offers an opportunity to retrain or extend and update your knowledge in the field of advanced computing.
You can complete this course full time over one year or part time over two years. This graduate diploma builds on the foundation of the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology. You may count coursework you undertake in the graduate diploma towards the requirements for the Master of Information Technology.

To apply for a PhD, you need to demonstrate sufficient prior research experience and capability. In most cases, you will have either: a bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours or a master's degree performed at a high academic standard, and which includes a substantial component of research; an equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence and capability. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 565 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.

To be eligible for admission, an applicant is required to have:
an Australian bachelor's degree in information technology with a credit average (60 percent) or equivalent qualification or
an Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree with a credit average (60 percent) and a major sequence of study in computer engineering, software engineering, or equivalent qualification or
a University of Sydney Graduate Certificate in Information Technology with a credit average (65 percent). Units completed in the graduate certificate can be credited to the graduate diploma. For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and entry requirements are determined based on the country, institution and qualification.
