The Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Advanced Restorative) provides high level of knowledge and advanced skills in advanced restorative dentistry, prosthodontics and oral implants.
Building on the foundation of the graduate certificate, the graduate diploma provides more extensive theoretical and clinical work, which can then be followed by a further 2 years of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) or a higher degree by research in this field. As a postgraduate dentistry student, the program will be presented by expert specialist clinicians and researchers, and will be based primarily at the Westmead Centre for Oral Health, with some sessions at and the Sydney Dental Hospital.
Our modern curriculum focuses on medical, behavioural and clinical sciences, while developing problem-solving and critical thinking skills in our students. Graduates are engaged and globally aware and have the capability to become leaders in oral health, dentistry and research.

To apply for a PhD, you need to demonstrate sufficient prior research experience and capability. In most cases, you will have either: a bachelor's degree with first or upper second class honours or a master's degree performed at a high academic standard, and which includes a substantial component of research; an equivalent qualification that demonstrates research experience, excellence and capability. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 565 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.

A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry (Advanced Restorative)will hold a Bachelor of Dentistry, Doctor of Dental Medicine or Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sydney or equivalent institution; or an equivalent qualification that is recognised by the Australian Dental Board (Limited Registration for postgraduate training/supervised practice) and with a curriculum acceptable to the school.
Applicants must demonstrate commitment to the particular specialty that they are applying for, such as through participation in short courses or continuing education programs aligned to that particular specialty.
In addition to these criteria, admission to this course requires:
at least two years general dental practice;
completion of the primary Fellowship Examination of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons or its equivalent is desirable;
all applicants must be registered with the Australian Dental Board for practice (limited registration for international candidates) prior to admission to the program.
TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 23 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 25 in Writing
IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 7.0 in each band
TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 5.0 in Writing
