This programme gives you the chance to specialise in literature produced during one of the most exciting periods of British literary and political history, when political change and social forces such as industrialisation and urbanisation led to some remarkable literary responses. The Romantic pathway will explore key texts from the period, and related themes such as imagination, sympathy, gender, national identities, ecology, and revolutionary politics. You may choose to take up to two modules from different periods to expand your approach. A core module will allow you to develop your research skills, preparing you for your research project / dissertation as well as for further research or a range of different careers. With a wealth of library resources and tutors whose teaching is informed by their world-leading research, this programme offers a great opportunity to explore literature and culture in a period when the face of Britain changed forever.
