The Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Electrical) will develop your ability to design and build the systems and machines that generate, transmit, measure, control and use electrical energy. It will position you to tackle the world's biggest challenges in health, education and the environment.
You will learn from industry-leading professionals how electrical energy is produced and used in homes, the community and in industry. Throughout your studies you will develop a foundational knowledge of electrical circuits, electronics and computer systems, signals and communications, power systems, control, energy systems and management.
During this four-year degree you will gain core skills in physics, mathematics, computer science and basic electrical engineering principles, before specialising in a variety of fields within the discipline, such as biomedical engineering, energy engineering and automatic control. In your third and fourth years, you can take electives to add breadth and depth to your studies.

All majors below are optional. Best aligned majors include Computer Engineering, Internet of Things, Power Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering. Additional study will be required if you select a major that is not best aligned with this stream. Certain majors may have limited capacity.

Career paths
Electrical engineers design, create, develop and manage systems in areas such as computer systems, electronics and telecommunications. A degree in electrical engineering may lead to a career in grid maintenance and stability contractor, industry power supply engineer, power transmission and generating systems engineering, specialised consulting companies and telecommunications.

Admission to this course is on the basis of the following criteria:
a secondary education qualification (including national and international equivalents), or approved higher education study, including approved preparation courses.
English language requirements where these are not demonstrated by sufficient qualifications taught in English.
English language proficiency
TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 85 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing.
IELTS score: A minimum result of 6.5 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band
TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 565 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing
