The central theme of this programme focuses on innovation across Lifelong and Work-related learning sectors. There are two broad strands covered: i) policy and innovative practice and ii) research and theoretical perspectives. The unique aspect of this course is the ability to align the course content with your own professional practice. You will be able to specialise in a number of directions through your choice of optional units and the focus of your dissertation. The Southampton Education School has extensive research expertise in this area. You will engage in study and research in the company of internationally respected academics. The aims of MSc Education Practice and Innovation pathway are for you to: appreciate the context and policy drivers across the Lifelong and Work-Related sector; develop an understanding of the nature of educational practice and innovation in the Lifelong and Work-Related sector; recognise different forms of innovation in learning and teaching; interrogate different forms of innovation and associated claims; explore the barriers to and enablers of change in educational innovation; recognise and critique the major processes of training and development; and identify the process of evaluation and its relationship to training and development.
