This course is suitable for those who like to make an independent and transforming contribution to their chosen field; highly motivated and able to study independently; and have a particular question or topic already in mind. The quality of the PhD research proposal is a key part of assessing this capability. You should be able to demonstrate that you have previous experience of conducting research, usually via a substantial research study undertaken as part of postgraduate masters level study. You will need to complete a series of progression milestones, including submission of annual progress reports and an interim thesis, examined by viva, for confirmation of your PhD candidature in order to arrive at the final thesis stage of your PhD.
