This one-year full-time course is integrated with a further five-year undergraduate degree, and will equip you with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to successfully meet the challenges of our MEng Civil Engineering. It is aimed at those who are highly motivated but who don’t have the traditional qualifications of UK mathematics and physics A Levels. Successful completion of this Foundation Year guarantees progression to one of seventeen subject areas, including Civil Engineering. You will study full time through a combination of lectures, workshops, tutorials, and independent study, with three hours of laboratory practical work each week. The Industrial Placement Year is an additional year-long module that allows you to apply for a placement with an engineering-based organisation. The Industrial Placement Year will be taken between the second and third years of your main degree, extending your time at university to six years. During your year-long placement, you will fulfil the role of a trainee engineer on a full-time basis. Please note, MEng degrees with Foundation Year and Industrial Placement Year are not available to students who require Tier 4 visas.
