Engineering management is fundamental to the production and design of engineered products. Management science features prominently in this four-year degree course for those looking to enter key management positions in the aerospace industry. Students can also take the Industrial Placement Year, providing the opportunity for a year-long placement with an engineering-based organisation.  This integrated masters degree programme is designed to enable professional engineers to progress quickly into key management positions in the aerospace industry. On this course, you will develop the technical skills to understand, design and manufacture new products and the expertise to manage processes, people and finances. The first two years are identical to the BEng and MEng Aeronautics and Astronautics. As in the BEng, you will gain a solid foundation in aerospace engineering such as aerodynamics, astronautics and propulsion along with a wider appreciation of the economic, legal and environmental issues associated with aircraft operations and aircraft performance. In the last two years, you will take a combination of engineering technology and management modules. You will develop the confidence and ability to apply management strategies and assess project risks. We also teach you the principles of accounting and law and help you to consider the human factors in engineering. The first two years will enhance your core knowledge of aerospace engineering subjects so that you are equipped to oversee various technical areas. You will also go on a practical one-week course in flight testing, where experiments are performed on board a Jetstream aircraft. In years three and four, you will carry out a series of individual and group design projects. In your final year, you have the option to take advanced management modules, including Information Systems Management and Strategic Management. You can also take the Industrial Placement Year, which is an additional year-long module that allows you to apply for a placement with an engineering-based organisation. The successful placement will be recognised on your Degree Certificate.
