The course offers the opportunity to study nutrition alongside animal and plant production, food science and food safety, as well as biochemistry and physiology. What we eat, and how much we eat, has a profound effect on our health. While much of the world is still concerned with consuming sufficient energy and essential nutrients to survive, many 'industrialized' countries are suffering ill health due to over-consumption of inappropriate foods. Chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, obesity and diabetes are all influenced by the diet we consume. Nutrition is a subject of controversy within society and well-trained nutritionists are needed to inform, explain and develop the subject from a scientific perspective. Students learn to approach the growing profusion of nutritional information and advice from a sound scientific basis. The course also offers the unique opportunity to study nutrition alongside animal and plant production, food science and food safety, as well as biochemistry and physiology. This enables you to develop a useful insight into the related fields of agriculture and the food industry to complement your knowledge of nutrition.

Applicants who have taken foundation courses are normally considered on a case by case basis. Students who have completed one or two years of university study may be eligible for bachelors admission, if relevant subjects have been studied and strong grades achieved. Again, applications are considered on a case by case basis.
