The Division of Psychiatry and Applied Psychology offers both PhD and MPhil degrees in applied psychology related to its core areas of interest. Research projects are usually either placed within the relevant research group or managed as collaboration across groups. All research students have a main supervisor and a second supervisor. Students work will be supported by a dedicated postgraduate environment, which is informed and, in part, sustained through active international collaboration and cutting-edge research that is relevant to a range of careers. In terms of international collaboration, the division has a department at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus and is a member of the Topic Centre programme in occupational health and safety for the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work. It hosts the Centre of Organisational Health and Development that is a designated Collaborating Centre in Occupational Health of the World Health Organisation. It is a founding member of the European Academy of Occupational Health Psychology and hosts its journal, Work and Stress. Those who take up a postgraduate research opportunity with us will not only receive support in terms of close contact with supervisors and specific training related to students area of research, they will also benefit from dedicated careers advice from our Careers and Employability Service. Individual guidance appointments, career management training programme, access to resources and invitations to events including skills workshops and recruitment fairs are just some of the ways in which they can help students develop their full potential, whether they choose to continue within an academic setting or are looking at options outside of academia.
