The Nursing Studies (Registered Nurse Adult Nursing) course combines theory and practice elements and is taught by inspiring and passionate staff. You will be challenged and supported throughout the course to become a highly competent adult nurse. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). This course focuses on the healthcare needs of people aged 16 years and over. Clinical placements range from caring for individuals with acute care needs in a hospital setting to the longer-term needs of people within the community setting. As a student of this course, you will explore the concepts of health and ill health within the adult population. You will also develop a clear understanding of research and its application to the care of service users and careers. You will have opportunities to take part in simulated practice learning in our Simulation Suite where you will explore key nursing principles and develop a range of clinical nursing skills, as well as critical thinking, decision-making and communication skills. Our nursing graduates have excellent employment prospects. Many of our graduates are initially employed by one of the NHS trusts in which they had their practice experience, before going on to further studies and employment elsewhere. Nursing is the largest healthcare profession in the country and nurses play a role in the delivery of most healthcare services. Although many qualified nurses work in hospitals, they can also work in general practice surgeries, community settings, home healthcare, outpatient day surgeries, nursing homes, schools, mental health agencies, hospices, the military and industry. Some nurses develop careers in education or research, promoting advances in many areas of healthcare and health promotion practice.
