Working closely with other schools and departments across the University, we provide you with a strong legal education and the guidance to apply your legal understanding in a practical context. This programme focuses on key conceptual and practical issues in international commercial law and cross-border business transactions. It is developed to provide a commercial context for career progression in international and national law firms, in-house legal departments, relevant government departments and international organisations. It covers both core areas of corporate and commercial law, such as corporate law and international business transactions, and more advanced aspects of international business law, such as the regulation of global financial markets and settling international investment disputes. It combines traditional study methods with modern teaching and learning techniques, including hands-on practical experience in structuring sophisticated business transactions and tackling complex business disputes. The programme lays great emphasis on training our LLM students to be capable practising lawyers. It is innovative in that it combines the study of the core of commercial law with a more contextual and critical appreciation of key current debates. Graduates of this programme are critical thinkers and confident problem solvers, with essential knowledge to advise their clients on a wide range of legal issues in international business transactions.
