The BEng Biomedical Engineering courses are informed by research conducted in our internationally renowned Centre for Biomedical Engineering. You’ll be taught by leading academics, in collaboration with clinicians and industry professionals, and benefit from our exceptional strengths and long history in health-related engineering. The strength of BEng Biomedical Engineering courses comes from our breadth of teaching and our strong applied clinical focus. This is not limited to ‘hips and knees’, but includes human movement, biosensors, prosthesis design and biomedical signal processing, as well as core topics such as implant technology. As a biomedical engineering student, you will be a part of Surrey’s pioneering ‘Innovation for Health’ project, designed to bring together computer, data and health scientists to develop technologies that will change the future of healthcare. Most of our biomedical engineering graduates proceed directly to employment in the biomedical engineering profession. Biomedical engineers can work in a number of areas, for example as clinical scientists in the NHS, in rehabilitation, as designers of medical equipment, or even in sports science or biomechanics. A significant number of our students go on to further their studies with postgraduate qualifications in biomedical engineering and related disciplines.
