Dr Clare Holley is interested in supervising PhD students investigating eating behaviours, with a particular focus on children's eating behaviours. She is also interested in the influences on children's eating behaviours, such as caregivers feeding practices. Furthermore, Clare would be happy to consider supervising research which looks at the relationships between eating behaviour and physical activity or sport. Projects may take a quantitative or mixed methods approach, and we are interested in supporting experimental research, particularly around children’s eating behaviour. Such studies might investigate the utility of messy play, involving children in cooking nutritional knowledge education or other possible methods of improving children’s eating. Dr Clare Holley's previous research has included exploring: interventions for increasing children's vegetable consumption; which individual characteristics might influence how successful these interventions are; the factors which influence children's consumption of vegetables and children's fussiness with vegetables; and the factors which influence caregivers' feeding practices. Previous work has also evaluated free meal provisions at school holiday clubs, and what the benefits of these might be.
