In 5G networks, beam steering antennas will be a critical enabling technology, both at the access points and mobile terminals. This project will develop beam steering antenna arrays operating in the recently allocated frequency bands up to 50GHz. It is expected antenna designs will be influenced by areas such as metamaterials, 3D printing etc. Loughborough University is well positioned to support this important research having recently invested in brand-new state of the art 50GHz antenna measurement facility as well as a new communications laboratory.
