This MSc course combines cutting-edge theory with the practical, applied skills you will need to become an effective researcher or industry specialist. Our teaching draws directly from our research, meaning you will be working with academics who are leading the field. This course is an ideal next step for students with a BSc who are interested in pursuing a career in research or industry. You will be assessed in a variety of ways including: written reports, data analysis reports, oral presentations, group project work and poster presentations.
This course is an essential step into further research or industry for students with a BSc in the biosciences. Around half of our students pursue further study, while the other half go into industry. On completion they may go to on to work in: the environment sector, construction, ecological consultancy, environmental organizations and government policy.

Students would normally need a bachelors degree from a recognised institution in a relevant subject. The score they will need depends on which university you attended in China and which subject you are applying to. Typically you would need at least the equivalent to a UK upper second class honours degree, however some courses will accept lower second class honours degrees. Actual requirements will vary by course. A score of 80-85% is considered comparable to a UK 2:1 and a score of 75-80% is considered comparable to a UK 2:2.

Applicants whose first language is not English need to provide evidence of their english language ability with IELTS: 6.5, with a minimum of 6.5 in Writing and no less than 6.0 in all other components.
