During this course students will study, create and perform music of all eras in a lively atmosphere of creative activity and scholarly endeavour. The main aim of this course is to develop knowledge of the subject and a set of skills, both subject-specific and generic, appropriate to nationally recognised undergraduate-level attainment. The knowledge base of each graduate will include historical and stylistic knowledge of core and optional periods, repertories and composers of western art music, and of optional ethnic repertories. The subject-specific skills will include a range of musicological, creative, performing and vocationally-oriented skills, and the generic skills will include skills in critical and analytic enquiry, independent and collaborative study, conceptual and logical thought, written and oral presentation, and IT.
