This course focuses on the use of computers in a technical or business environment. We place emphasis on developing your understanding of the systems aspects of computing but, unusually, you do not need to have an A level in Mathematics or Physics to study with us on this course. We introduce you to web technologies, databases and Java at an early stage. This course aims to produce graduates who have a deep understanding of computer science and computer programming, but also have a good foundation of business and enterprise systems. Computer systems are seamlessly integrated into most businesses, therefore computing science within organizations have increasing strategic significance, for example, computer topics such as Big Data, shared data, computational analysis, and security offer real challenges to many businesses. This programme is aimed to develop Computer Scientists who have a good understanding of business and marketing and can apply their knowledge to a broad range of sectors and applications, and is aimed at applied computer specialists who already know they wish to specialise in business systems and applications.
