The programme is designed to build upon student midwives’ strengths so they become professional and motivated practitioners. The course develops creativity and originality of expression and the ability to analyse and make use of research. Students are also taught how to evaluate and critique research studies, so they become thoughtful and critical users of research in practice. Student midwives will develop a heightened level of self-awareness and sensitivity towards women and families throughout the programme. The Midwifery and Reproductive Health team offers a broad range of experience and subject interest. In partnership with other disciplines our well established research culture supports evidence based practice. Several recently qualified students have attained midwifery posts in maternity units across England, as well as Wales. Other alumni have become Specialist Midwives in London, won prestigious research scholarships or are  working abroad in, for example, Australia.
