In this course you will learn about the design of prosthetic devices, new biocompatible materials, and the behaviour of complex bio-molecules and fluids with the body. Medical Engineering is the application of engineering principles to both the human body and to a broad range of instrumentation used in modern medicine. As a student on the BEng Medical Engineering (with a Year in Industry) course, you will graduate with engineering skills, whilst also providing employers with the added experience and knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and the ability to communicate with clinicians. The BEng Medical Engineering at Swansea University is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an incorporated Engineer and partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.
