This Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) programme is designed to provide students with the basic knowledge, understanding and skills that are of fundamental importance to the activities and development of an Incorporated Engineer, or someone who will progress to Chartered Engineer with further study. They provide students with sufficient fundamental knowledge and exposure to current ideas and techniques to enable them to develop solutions to real Engineering problems. The BEng Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Swansea University is accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an incorporated Engineer and partially meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer. The objectives of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme are: to provide students with a solid background in the design and analysis of Electrical and Electronic Systems; to build computer modelling and simulation skills using EEE industrial standard software such as: Matlab-Simulink, PSpice, SILVACO, PSCAD, and PSIM; to build engineering skills required when working in industry, including the ability to break a complex engineering problem into component parts, to design, simulate and build solutions, and to be able to prepare and understand technical reports; and to build critical awareness regarding ethical, environmental, and socioeconomic aspects of an EEE challenge when working with an industry, through introducing professional codes of conduct (e.g. the IET Rules of Conduct).
