The School of Management has a thriving community of doctoral students and provides a supportive and friendly environment in which to pursue PhD studies in economics research. The economics department has research strengths in most areas of economics, particularly macro, micro, development and labour economics. Swansea’s research strengths are underpinned by specialised research centres and successful research grant applications. Student participation at conferences and internal institutional arrangements helps to build a strong sense of being part of a dynamic group of young economists, which will contribute to the next generation of leading economists. Our Economics research is focused on advanced econometric research and modelling as well as the inter-relationship between economics and finance.
