This course covers basic competencies and then specialise in Adult, Children and Young People's or Mental Health Nursing. Assessment is split equally between assessment of theory and assessment of practice. This approach reflects the Nursing and Midwifery Council's requirement that 50% of the programme is undertaken in practice. Students must achieve the required standard in both theoretical and practice assessment. Assignments are designed to align with module outcomes, content and teaching strategies. Additionally the range of strategies adopted will address the spectrum of student learning styles. Qualified nurses can work in a diverse range of environments and develop their careers in clinical practice, education, research, management and education. Nurses can work in hospital settings or in the community either with the NHS or in the Independent sector.
