Introduction The MTh in Systematic Theology intends to give students with a first degree in Theology or who have undertaken graduate work in a cognate field an opportunity for advanced study of Christian Systematic Theology. Students in the programme acquire the skills and knowledge of the discipline necessary for independent postgraduate research and teaching in the field, and for many students it serves as an avenue to the PhD. Students in the programme will examine both the nature of Christian Systematic Theology as a discipline and its history in the modern era, as well as the substance of key doctrinal themes in detail. Systematic theology is a major research focus, in such fields as the history of modern theology, constructive Christian doctrine, and the relation of systematic to biblical and moral theology. Students can expect rigorous training in a context devoted to high-quality research supported by the University Library's extensive and historic holdings in theology and related areas, as well as archival resources of outstanding importance to religious scholarship.
