Introduction This degree familiarises students with the central theoretical, conceptual, and empirical dimensions of post-conflict justice and peacebuilding and explores how these have changed over time. The degree is focused on the public policies and mechanisms by which justice is claimed to assist peacebuilding and reconciliation - memory, truth recovery, forgiveness and reparations. It subjects these processes to critical reflection by considering the boundaries of forgiveness after conflict, the burden of memory and the problems of forgetting, issues surrounding truth and truth recovery, and the limits of apologies and reparations. The degree works both as stand-alone programme for students wishing to enhance their knowledge of this area to an advanced level, as well as providing the necessary foundation for students wishing to pursue a PhD in the social sciences.
