Introduction The MLitt in Modern History is tailored to your interests, providing effective preparation for doctoral research and other career paths requiring skills in research and communication. It is the ideal next step for students with an undergraduate degree in History or a related discipline who want to take their understanding of Modern History to a higher level. Students are encouraged to develop a broad and deep understanding of their chosen area of study throughout the degree. You can choose from a wide range of in-depth courses reflecting the specialisations of our staff in History from the 18th to the 20th centuries and in different parts of the world. Students also receive a high degree of individual guidance in the literature in their chosen field of study, engage with the work-in-progress of active historians, and enhance their presentation skills. Students are then supervised in undertaking original dissertation research.
