Introduction This degree is designed for students wishing to develop an advanced knowledge of the intellectual terrain of intrastate conflict and contemporary approaches to the management of violent conflict. The module will familiarise students with the theoretical and methodological insights from the fields of sociology, anthropology, political science and human rights. It analyses a range of international peace processes, themselves well known, in which these themes are explored empirically - Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Lebanon, Sierra Leone. The degree works both as stand-alone programme for students wishing to enhance their knowledge of this area to an advanced level, as well as providing the necessary foundation for students wishing to pursue a PhD in the social sciences.
