This unique course is aimed at people who want to join a helping profession but who want to keep their career options wide open. The broad-based, multidisciplinary studies will be an excellent foundation for later training as a nurse, teacher, social worker, careers advisor, counsellor or any related role. Our assessment strategy is designed to support student-centred learning and you will take increasing responsibility for evaluating and improving your performance. The assessment process will encourage interaction and dialogue around learning and assessment (peer-student and teacher-student). Further specialist training will be required for some careers, such as teaching, social work and nursing. For other roles you might go straight into employment and undertake on the job training. Examples of roles include career guidance practitioner, drugs worker, training and development officer, learning mentor, behaviour specialist, progression coach, counselling and support manager.
